About Bakehouse Pies
Crafting Traditional Pies the Way They’ve Always Been Done
We’ve been hand-making and baking our pies and steamed meat puddings for the premium end of the licensed trade for more years than we care to remember.
Many of our recipes have stood the test of timeโover 40 years and counting. We proudly stick to the same trusted ingredients and time-honoured cooking methods we’ve always used. Every pie is crafted from scratch in our own kitchens: from flaky shortcrust and puff pastry to rich, daily-prepared fillings made by our skilled cooks.
What sets us apart is the sheer quality and abundance of our fillings. Take our Tavern Pies, for instanceโthey’re noticeably larger than the competition at around 320g each, bursting with flavour and generously packed.
Small wonder our customers keep coming back for more. With over 78 UK Pie Awards under our belt, we’re clearly getting it right!
In the past, when customers relocated outside our local van delivery area, they often missed out on our piesโsince we supply direct to kitchens only. We’re delighted to now offer a convenient weekly delivery service to most of mainland UK.
After all, we firmly believe the proof of the pudding is in the eating.
Bakehouse Pies offer one of the UK’s largest hand crafted pie ranges
FULLY BAKED TAVERN PIES 320g
These hearty Pies are packed in boxes of 6 and come in to you with 7 days chilled shelf life.
Like most of our hot eating Pies we recommend serving them with a separate jug of gravy when presenting the pie to your customer as we tend to fill the pie with the filling rather than pad them out with gravy.

How long do the pies keep in the fridge?
Pies come with a minimum of 7 days refrigerated life.
Can I freeze the pies?
What temperature do I set the oven?
185c for 20-25 mins. Always ensure the pie is piping hot before consuming. If you prefer a crispier pastry, you may want to take the pie out of the foil to reheat.
Can the tavern range pies be reheated from frozen?
For best results we strongly recommend that you reheat from chilled/defrost.
However, if you do reheat from frozen cover the pastry lid with foil and reheat in the oven at 180 degrees for around 45 minutes. Important: Do check the centre of the pie is at least 72 degrees before serving.
Can I microwave the pub range pie?
For best results we recommend reheating in a conventional oven
How do I reheat the suet meat puddings?
Put a good splash of water on the top lid of the pudding where there is a small indentation from the pastry pressing out process.
Cover the whole pudding in cling film, careful not to spill the water in the recess, then microwave 4 minutes pastry lid SIDE UP (not down as previous instructions), allow to stand for 2 minutes.
Remove the cling film, run a knife gently around the side of the plastic container and the pastry, this helps release the pastry from the plastic sides, then turn the pudding (in the container) upside down i.e. pastry lid side down on to a serving plate, the pudding should now slip out of the container, give a gentle squeeze on the plastic container to help it out if you need to.
Before serving run a little gravy over the pastry to give it some colour, then serve with a small jug of gravy and vegetables of choice.
Our Puds can also be reheated in the traditional way by placing in a Put a good splash of water on the top lid of the pudding where there is a small indentation from the pastry pressing out process.
Preheat oven to Electric 180 degrees or Gas mk4, using a roasting dish place puddings (in the black container ) in the dish pastry side facing up. Fill the roasting dish with hot water halfway up the side of the black containers, cover roasting dish tightly with foil and place in the oven.
The object here is to reheat the Puds by steam and the reheating time will depend on how hot the water is that you put in the dish, the Puds need to be piping hot to 72 degrees, say 25/30 minutes in the oven, donโt worry if you leave in longer as this method of reheating will not spoil the product.
Make sure you take care by using oven gloves both for placing in the oven and for removing from the oven, bearing in mind that the dish contains very hot water.
Leave the tavern range pies in the foil or not?
It depends. If you prefer a crispier pastry, you may want to take the pie out of the foil to reheat.
Do you supply Gluten Free products?
Unfortunatly not at this time.
